Why Does the Brake Pedal Pulsate?
That rhythmic up-and-down movement you feel through the brake pedal is almost always a sign of a thickness variation in your brake discs (rotors). When the disc surface isn’t perfectly flat — often due to heat stress from hard braking, warped rotors, or even uneven pad deposits — the brake pads can’t clamp evenly. As the disc rotates, each high spot pushes the pads and caliper piston back slightly, causing the pedal to vibrate. On the Toyota Highlander XU70, this issue is especially common if the vehicle frequently carries heavy loads or tows.
