Chevy Silverado ABS Light On? Here's Why It Won't Shut Off

The ABS warning light staying on in your Silverado usually points to a wheel speed sensor or wiring issue. Learn what to check first and whether it’s safe to keep driving.

What Does a Constant ABS Light Mean?

When the ABS light stays on continuously in your fourth-generation Silverado, the system has detected a fault and disabled itself. In most cases, it's a failsafe reaction to a missing or erratic wheel speed signal. That signal comes from the wheel speed sensors mounted at each hub, and over time these sensors get covered in metallic brake dust, corrode, or suffer from damaged wiring. Don't panic—your regular braking still works, but the ABS system is offline until you address the issue.
