Why is the ABS light staying on?
The ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) light on your Ford Edge II is designed to illuminate when the system detects a fault. Unlike the brief self-check flash you see at startup, a light that stays on continuously means the ABS module has stored a trouble code. In my experience, the number one cause on this generation of Edge is a failed or contaminated wheel speed sensor.
Each wheel has a sensor that reads a toothed tone ring. When one sensor sends an inconsistent or missing signal, the ABS computer disables the entire system and turns on the warning light. Another common culprit is a damaged sensor wiring harness, especially at the front struts or rear trailing arms where road salt and debris take their toll.
