A clunking front suspension over bumps usually points to worn sway-bar links, strut mounts, or control-arm bushings. Here’s what to check first and whether you can keep driving.
Why Your Emgrand Clunks Over Bumps
When you hear a clunk from the front suspension on uneven roads, it's almost always a mechanical looseness in one of the moving parts — not a sensor problem. The Geely Emgrand's MacPherson strut front suspension relies on several joints and bushings that wear with mileage. The most common culprits are sway-bar (stabilizer) end links, strut mounts or bearings, and lower control-arm bushings. These parts develop play, and that play turns into a metallic or rubbery clunk as the suspension compresses and rebounds over potholes.
