Your Geely Cityray dying right after a cold start, especially in deep winter, often points to one of a few common culprits. Here’s what to check first and whether it’s safe to keep driving before repairing it.
Why Does Your Cityray Stall After a Cold Start?
When it’s freezing outside, your engine needs a richer fuel mixture and a higher idle speed to stay alive during the first few seconds. If anything upsets that delicate balance, the motor simply chokes and stalls. On the Geely Cityray, the usual suspects are a dirty or failing idle air control valve (IAC), a carbon-fouled throttle body, or a coolant temperature sensor that’s lying to the ECU about how cold the engine actually is. A weak battery or corroded battery terminals can also drop system voltage just enough to confuse the sensors during cranking.
