A clunk from the front of your Jaecoo J5 over bumps is usually a worn sway bar link, bushing, strut mount, or ball joint. Here’s what to check first and when to stop driving.
What that front-end clunk usually means
On a Jaecoo J5, a clunking noise over bumps and potholes is most often a mechanical issue in the front MacPherson strut or stabilizer bar system, not a computer or sensor fault. The usual suspects are worn sway bar end links, worn sway bar bushings, strut top mounts and bearings, lower control arm bushings, ball joints, and tie rod ends. Loose brake caliper pins, subframe bolts, or a failing engine mount can also sound like a suspension clunk.
