Kaiyi X3 Front Suspension Clunk: Causes and Safety

A clunk from your Kaiyi X3’s front suspension over bumps is usually a worn sway bar link, bushing, strut mount, or ball joint. Here’s what to check first and when to stop driving.

Start With the Usual Suspects

On a Kaiyi X3, a front-end clunk over potholes and speed bumps is rarely an electronic sensor fault. It's almost always a mechanical joint that has developed play. The first parts I'd inspect are the front stabilizer bar end links and stabilizer bar bushings - they take a beating on rough roads and often make a hollow clunk at low speed.

  • Worn sway bar end links or bushings
  • Failed strut top mounts or bearings
  • Worn lower control arm bushings or ball joints
  • Loose or worn outer tie rod ends
  • Loose brake caliper, worn strut, or broken coil spring

If ABS or ESC warning lights are on, scan for wheel speed sensor or steering angle sensor codes, but remember those sensors do not cause a suspension clunk.
