Cold-start stalling in your GLS X167 is often a fuel, sensor, or battery issue. Here’s what a mechanic would check first and whether it’s safe to drive.
Why Your GLS X167 Stalls After a Cold Start
I hear this a lot from X167 owners: the engine fires up on a frosty morning, runs for a few seconds, then shudders and quits. Sometimes it restarts fine; sometimes it takes a few tries. That pattern usually points to a cold-start fuel mixture problem or a sensor that's not reporting correctly when the engine is cold. The X167 (GLS 450, 580, Maybach, AMG, and diesel variants) uses complex engine management, and in winter the ECU demands a richer mixture and higher idle. If anything in that chain is off—battery voltage, air temperature reading, fuel pressure, or carbon buildup—the engine can stall right after startup.
