A clunk from the front of your Kaptur over bumps is usually worn stabilizer links, bushings, or top mounts. Here’s how to diagnose it and when to stop driving.
Why your Kaptur clunks over bumps
That dull knock or rattle from the front end is the suspension telling you something has developed play. On a Renault Kaptur, the usual suspects are the front stabilizer bar links and bushings, lower control arm bushings or ball joints, and the strut top mounts/bearings. A worn shock absorber, loose subframe bolt, or tired steering rack inner tie rod can also make a similar noise. There’s no suspension “clunk sensor” to scan, so this is a hands-on inspection: grab each component and check for movement, cracked rubber, torn boots, or shiny metal where parts have been rubbing.
