Toyota Sequoia ABS Light On? Start With the Wheel Speed Sensors

If your Sequoia III’s ABS light stays on, a wheel speed sensor is usually the culprit. Here’s what to check, how to diagnose it, and whether it’s safe to keep driving.

When the ABS warning light stays on continuously in your Toyota Sequoia III, the system has detected a fault and disabled itself. In my experience, the most common trigger is a wheel speed sensor — either a failing sensor, a damaged wire, or a dirty tone ring. These sensors tell the ABS computer how fast each wheel is turning, so when one signal drops out or reads incorrectly, the light comes on and stays on. That doesn't mean the brakes are dead, but it does mean you no longer have anti-lock protection in a panic stop.
