Common Causes of Cold-Start Stalling in the BYD Tang
When temperatures drop, a few things can make your Tang stall right after ignition. The most frequent culprit is a faulty coolant temperature sensor – it tells the ECU the engine is cold, but if it reads too high, the computer won't enrich the fuel mixture enough, causing a stall. Next, check the idle air control valve (IACV) or electronic throttle body – carbon buildup can restrict airflow at idle. Also, a weak fuel pump or clogged fuel filter can starve the engine on a cold start. Finally, spark plugs with excessive wear or incorrect gap can misfire when cold.
